Instructions for installing and activating Turbotax 2023.

We’re here to help you through the TurboTax Desktop installation and activation process. For your 2023 taxes, you’ll need to sign in to your Intuit Account (or create one if you don’t already have one) to activate your product. You’ll be prompted to do so after you install your product.

You need an Intuit Account to use TurboTax Desktop for a few reasons:

  • You can be confident you’re downloading and activating an official Intuit product
  • You can more easily install TurboTax Desktop on another computer because we’ll store your license code

Here’s how to get started with TurboTax Desktop:

  1. Download and install TurboTax Desktop

Some common errors encountered when installing and activating Turbotax 2023 products and how to fix them.

  • VCRUNTIME140.dll and MSVCP140.dll missing in Windows 10, 11

The lack of these DLLs can be fixed by installing “Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 – 2022 Redistributable”. Probably the application that is showing this error depends on it installed.

Download from the links below. I suggest you install both the x86 and x64 versions.
x86: https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x86.exe
x64: https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x64.exe

After upgrading Microsoft Visual C, reinstall Turbotax and it will be successful.

  • Error 630 or 620 when activate

It’s very simple with this error, you just need to logout your Intuit account.
Restart your computer, re-enter your account and reactivate.

  • Error 607 when activate

This error occurs when the activation code is not entered in correctly or the code is invalid. Here are some instructions that can help resolve the issue:

  • First, be sure you are entering the license code characters carefully.   Don’t confuse G and 6, or S and 5, or O (letter O) and 0 (zero), etc.
  • Review the code to make sure you did not transpose any numbers or letters.

  • Error 606 when activate
A resolve to the issue is to Check for Windows update> Install any updates that appear **Even when your system auto-updates, some updates are optional and don’t update automatically. Without them, they can impact how programs function**.

Reboot System> Uninstall the TurboTaxDesktop program>Re-Install TurboTaxDesktop program again.

The correct product loaded and the customer was able to enter the License Code and proceed.

  • Error: “Failed to extract archive”

Failed to extract archive occurs when attempting to install TurboTax software that became corrupted while being downloaded.

Solution

  1. Delete the downloaded file.
  2. Search Windows for %temp% (include the percent characters) to locate the Temp folder.
  3. Open the Temp folder and delete all folders starting with ckz__.
  4. Turn off virus-protection software.
  5. Disable your firewall.
  6. Using a different browser, redownload your TurboTax program or manual update and install again. Remember to turn your antivirus and firewall back on after a successful installation.

If the same error persists, follow steps 1–3, restart your computer in selective startup mode, and then carry out the remaining steps.

  • Error 605 when activate
